Lab Watch Glass Dish Surface Disk Thickened Glass
A watch glass is made of glass, circular in shape with a slightly concave middle, and is similar to an evaporating dish. It can be used for some evaporation of liquids. It increases the surface area of the liquid, thus accelerating evaporation. However, unlike an evaporating dish, it cannot be directly heated and an asbestos mesh is required if heating is necessary. It can be used as a lid to cover an evaporating dish or a beaker, preventing dust from falling into them. It can also serve as a container to temporarily hold solid or liquid reagents for easy access. Additionally, it can be used as a carrier for pH test strips to prevent the acid or alkali solution dropped on the test strips from corroding the laboratory bench.
